So it's been a while since I've sat and "blogged". I don't know that that's what this is exactly that I'm doing, but whatever.
The world of America has changed dramatically in the time since my last writing. This blog, originally called "The Roaming Book Witch", was to be about my travels around the country and the world to different bookstores and libraries. Today, this blog is dropping the "roaming" and focusing on all things books, what with the immense surge in book challenges and bans, nationwide. I'd like to use this as a platform of support for the book community. Libraries, indie bookstores, authors, writers, etc. In challenging and banning books, these "fearless leaders" are doing nothing but silencing (or attempting to silence) the voice of peoples and opinions that they are afraid of because they are different than themselves. They're not white. They're not male. They're not straight. They're not "American enough". Etc., etc. Books give a voice to everyone in some form, as well as a comfort and comradery they may not find elsewhere. To take that away is to tell these folks that they're nothing and that they don't matter to our society, when in fact, they matter more than we may ever know. I invite you to follow me, the Book Witch, on this new journey of supporting the written word of ALL souls out there, for the better of society. Happy reading. -K
